Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA First Round on May 28, 2026

EUGENE, Ore. - Chelsea Shapard recorded a time of 58.89 seconds in the first round, but fell just .01 second shy of qualifying for the semifinal round, of the 400-meter hurdles Thursday at the 2009 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field.
Shapard finished 17th overall in the event after completing the race just .01 seconds behind Penn State's Fawn Dorr, who took the 16th and final spot in tomorrow's semifinal heat with a time of 58.88 seconds.
The event marked the conclusion of Shapard's career at the University of Utah.
Next up for Utah, rising sophomore Langley Iverson will compete in the high jump at the USA Junior Championships, an event held in the same location at the same time, and will serve as the selection meet for the 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships, July 31-August 2 in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.
The event will be held Saturday at 4:50 p.m. MT.
Brianna LeRoy qualified for the heptathlon at the USA Junior Championships, but will not compete as she recovers from a foot injury.
