SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's soccer team defeated Westminster in spring exhibition play, 3-0, on the Griffins' campus. All three goals came in the first half as three different Utes each netted their first of the spring.
The opening goal, and eventual game-winner, came in the 15th minute as sophomore defender Lauren Porter knocked it a header off a great service from Erin Dalley on a 35-yard free kick.
Utah extended its advantage to 2-0 just five minutes later as freshman Hanna Terry found the back of the net on a well-played set piece. Junior forward Lauren Hair played a short corner kick to Terry, who dribbled past one defender and fired in the shot from 15 yards out.
The third and final goal came from Hair as she blasted home a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Turpen got the shutout, her second of the spring. The Utes are 2-1 in spring exhibition games, including a 1-0 win over Sam Houston State.
Utah's next spring game will be Saturday, April 10, as the Utes head to Provo to face BYU.
