Utah Track & Field Gets Season Underway This Weekend

Salt Lake City- The University of Utah women's track and field team gear up for the 2011 season opener at the BYU Invitational. The event will be held at the Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah and is slated to begin at 12 p.m. MDT.
"We will get to see how well our athletes trained during the Christmas break," said Utah head coach Kyle Kepler. "There are a few kids around who want to compete and we want to give them that opportunity."
The Utes will only be sending a handful of athletes due to the fact that several athletes have not returned from winter break. Utah athletes will be primarily competing in throwing events. There will be no distance runners competing for the Utes.
"This is a low key meet, "said Kepler. "School starts next Monday and we will things will pick up then."
