CORVALLIS, Ore. - Senior middle blocker Danielle Killpack connected for a team-high eight kills and a .438 hitting percentage, but the University of Utah volleyball team lost a three-set match Saturday at Oregon State (12-25, 18-25, 15-25).
Utah (9-15, 4-11 Pac-12) was outhit by Oregon State, .276 to .000, and outblocked 7.0 to 6.0.
Killpack registered her eight kills on 16 swings on only one error. The Idaho Falls, Idaho native tied for team-high honors with three blocks. Sophomore Erin Redd tied Killpack for the team lead in blocking in the match.
Junior setter Abby Simmons coordinated the Ute offense with 17 assists and contributed six digs and a block.
On the serve, sophomore outside hitter Morgan Odale served a pair of aces in addition to her 11 digs in the back row of Utah's defense. Odale now has eight double-figure-digs this season and 19 over her career.
Sophomore libero Nikki Sim paced the Ute defense with a team-high 15 digs, which was her 16th double-digit-dig performance of the season.
Oregon State (14-10, 6-8 Pac-12) was led by a match-high 13 kills from junior Camille Saxton.
The Utes return to Crimson Court next week, beginning Thursday against No. 2 California. First serve is set for 7 p.m. MT and a live stream of the match will be available here.
