SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah volleyball team will compete in four exhibition events during its spring season, Ute head coach Beth Launiere announced Thursday.
The Utes begin their spring training on Monday, Feb. 28 and will begin their competition schedule on Friday, Mar. 18 with an exhibition against BYU in Provo, Utah.
"Playing against other teams in the spring is critical to our development and preparation for next fall," Launiere said. "We practice all winter long so it is a good chance to gauge our progress and have some fun competing."
After Spring Break on Mar. 21-15, the Utes will host their annual Utah Spring Tournament on Saturday, Apr. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Crimson Court. Utah will face BYU, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State, Montana State, Salt Lake Community College, as well as the College of Southern Idaho.
The following week, Utah heads to the Utah Valley Tournament on Saturday, Apr. 9 in Orem, Utah, then concludes its spring competition schedule on Wednesday, Apr. 13 against Utah State at 2:30 p.m., in Logan, Utah.
The Utes finished the season 17-14 overall and were 11-5 in the Mountain West Conference. A pair of returning Utah student-athletes - Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah) and Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) - were named to the 2010 All-MWC Team while Odale was selected as the conference's Freshman of the Year.
