TUCSON, Ariz. - Utah's Brianna LeRoy set two personal records in her first day of competition at the Jim Click Invitational. LeRoy's efforts earned her 2,999 points and have her in eighth place as she enters the final day of competition on Friday.
"She had a pretty good opening day," said Utah associate head coach Burke Bockman. "To start a multi event like she did in the hurdles was a big lift for us."
To start off the day, LeRoy competed in the 100m hurdles and clocked a new personal best time of 14.59. In the high jump, she cleared the barrier of 5-4.25. On her first throw of the shot put, LeRoy hit a new personal record of 34-11.75. In the 200m race, LeRoy earned a time of 26.43, which was .01 second shy of her personal best. With three events remaining, LeRoy enters the final day of the meet with 2,999 points, which is 1,671 points shy of her career-best.
"I was very pleased that she set two personal records in her first three events. That is a great start to her first multi event of the season," said Bockman. "We are looking for big things tomorrow."
The Jim Click Invitational will continue tomorrow at 12 p.m. PDT at the Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.
