After Tuesday's exhibition match, the University of Utah volleyball team hits the road for the first time this season as it will play three matches in two days at the Yale Invitational. All matches will be played at the John Lee Ampitheater (2,800) in New Haven, Conn. The Utes open play Friday against Colgate at 5 p.m. ET, then will play a doubleheader on Saturday, starting against Boston College at 1 p.m., then against host Yale at 7 p.m. ET.

Nova KBM Review: Ute freshman Alli Spurrier (Salt Lake City, Utah) had 10 blocks and sophomore outside hitter Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) added 14 kills and six digs but Utah fell in five sets to Nova KBM (25-23, 25-22, 16-25, 20-25, 5-15) in an exhibition match Tuesday at Crimson Court.
The Utes outblocked Nova KBM 14.5 to 11 for the match, but their opponents hit .314 compared to a .207 mark for Utah. Spurrier had a match-high 10 blocks and Danielle Killpack (Idaho Falls, Idah) added nine.
Morgan Odale totaled her 14 kills on 36 swings with only four errors to go along six digs and three blocks.
Sophomore middle blocker Erin Redd had 13 kills on only 21 attempts with three errors as well as four blocks and two digs.
Defensively, both Morgan and McKenzie Odale (Star, Idaho) along with Chelsey Schofield (Provo, Utah) tied for team-high honors with six digs apiece. Utah hit for percentages of .250 and .464 during the first two sets, both wins, but failed to go over .125 on the attack in the remaining three sets of the match.
Block Party: The Utes held a 3.9-1.1 advantage in blocks per set over their opponents during the opening weekend at the Utah Classic. Utah enjoyed a 35.0-10.0 advantage in team blocks through its first three matches of the season, including a 29.0-3.0 edge against Cal State Northridge and Northwestern.
