The University of Utah volleyball team will continues its first season of Pac-12 Conference competition this weekend in the Bay Area. The Utes take on No. 2 Stanford Friday in Stanford, Calif., then head to Berkeley to face the top-ranked team in the nation, California, on Saturday. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. PT. The Utes are 6-4 overall and 1-0 in Pac-12 play this season after sweeping Colorado in Boulder on Tuesday.

Ready for a Roadie: Utah has won both of its true road matches this season, including Tuesday's win at Colorado and a 3-1 victory (25-19, 28-30, 25-20, 25-22) at Yale on Sept. 3 in New Haven, Conn. The Utes went 8-5 on the road last season and are 198-211 (.484) in road matches since the program's inception in 1975. Utah head coach Beth Launiere is 134-121 (.525) in road contests since taking over as Ute head coach in 1990.
Colorado Review: The Utes held a .275 to .161 advantage in team hitting as well as a 9-4 edge in team blocks as they swept Colorado (25-22, 25-21, 25-21) in their first-ever Pac-12 Conference match Tuesday at the Coors Events Center.
Hitting and Blocking: The Utes have had the advantage in two key statistical categories over their opponents through the first 10 matches of 2011: hitting percentage and blocking. Utah has outblocked its opponents in nine of its first 10 outings this season, and has had a higher hitting percentage than its foes nine times this year.
Utah holds a 3.20 blocks per set average this season, which leads the Pac-12. The Utes have limited their opponents to a 1.33 average in team blocks. Utah also maintains a .245 to .148 edge in hitting percentage through 10 matches in 2011.
