The set would be tied once more at 13 and the Utes were able to stay within a point until BC held a 21-20 edge. Unfortunately, the Eagles closed the set strong by taking the last four points en route to a 25-20 first-set victory. Utah is now 0-2 this season after losing the first set, but Redd and Schofield turned in three kills and the Utes held BC to a .057 hitting percentage.
The Utes took three of the first five points at the outset of the second frame before reeling off six consecutive scores to take a commanding 9-2 lead they would never relinquish. Utah hit for a .516 clip with Redd hitting four more kills and the Ute defense limited the Eagles to a .040 mark.
There were nine ties in the third set, the last coming at 11-11, before BC took a 16-11 advantage after a 7-0 run. The Eagles led by as many as eight points (21-13) but the Utes fought back to get within two at 24-22, but BC was able to hold Utah off for a 25-22 win in the third set.
