Utah Volleyball Starts Non-Conference Play on the Road

Utes return to the Huntsman Center on Sunday against Oregon State
SALT LAKE CITY– Utah Volleyball starts its 2026 campaign on the road at the Utah Valley Tournament in Orem, Utah, from Aug. 28-29 before heading home to the Huntsman Center to host Oregon State on Aug. 30.
The Utes will first take on Utah Valley on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. MT with streaming available on ESPN+. Utah has a quick turnaround, facing Utah Tech on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. MT. No streaming will be available for that match.
On Sunday, Aug. 30, Utah opens home play at the Huntsman Center hosting former conference-mate Oregon State at 1 p.m. MT. Streaming for the match will be available on ESPN+ with Krista Blunk and Adora Anae on the call.

• Alyssa D'Errico makes her debut in 2026 as Utah Volleyball's sixth head coach in program history after legendary head coach Beth Launiere retired at the conclusion of the 2025 season after 36 years at the helm.
• Utah returns 13 players from last season's team that stamped the program's ticket to its 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Outside hitter Kamryn Gibadlo is the most decorated of the group, earning First Team All-Big 12, First Team AVCA All-Region, and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors.

Utah Valley is coming off their third WAC Tournament Championship, where they took down the Utah Tech Trailblazers in epic fifth-set fashion. Winning the conference title sent UVU to the NCAA tournament, where they lost 1-3 to No. 2 seeded Stanford. In last year's match between the Utes and the Wolverines, Utah came out ahead with a 3-1 victory. Joining a new conference this year, Utah Valley was voted by Big West coaches to finish fourth in the conference, receiving one first-place vote along the way.

On Saturday, Utah takes on Utah Tech for the first time in program history. The Trailblazers are following a very successful 2025 campaign, winning 21 matches, and losing in the fifth set of the WAC Championship versus UVU. Also moving into a new conference, Utah Tech was picked to finish fourth in the Big Sky Conference poll, receiving a first-place vote.
SCOUTING Oregon State
Utah vs. Oregon State: 18-11

An old conference member of Utah's returns to the Jon M. Huntsman Center Sunday afternoon. Utah currently holds a nine-game winning streak over the Beavers, winning thirteen of their last fourteen. Oregon State went 19-9 last season, finishing third in the WCC with a 13-5 record in conference. Oregon State is the third team Utah faces this season, entering a new conference as the Beavers join the Pac-12 for this volleyball season.
REIGNING RETURNERS
• Kamryn Gibadlo returns to the Utes as a First Team All-Big 12 selection, First Team AVCA All-Region selections, and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention selection for her efforts in the 2025 season. Utah's star outside hitter led the team with 4.22 kills/set, 489 total kills, and 277 digs.
• Levani Falatea is expected to continue her growth on the squad, solely focusing her efforts as an outside hitter, after spending 2025 on both the offensive and defensive side of the court. Falatea finished the year second on the team in digs (224) and in the top four for kills (139).
• Katelynn Field turned heads in her freshman debut, posing a constant threat at middle blocker with her imposing 6'5" frame. As such, Field finished second on the team for blocks (91.0) and was in the top five for kills (92).
• Isabelle Marco is ready to take on a larger role for the Utes in her junior year after finishing 2025 second in assists (420).
•McKenna Payne comes back to the Utes after gaining a ton of experience as the starting libero during her freshman season in 2025. Payne ended the year third on the team in assists (68) and top four in digs (181).
• Ultimate Ute Briar Rose comes back to the Utah lineup in 2026 more prepared than ever to keep team spirit high after honing her confidence and cheering ability during her debut season in 2025.
BACK IN THE LINEUPS
•Utah has three plays returning to play after extended time out with injuries in outside hitter Devyn Wiest, opposite hitters Ashley West and Olga Musial.
WELCOME TO UTAH
• Along with a slew of seasoned vets, the Utes are welcoming a total of five newcomers (two freshmen and three transfers) to their 2026 squad.
• Freshman Class of 2026: MB Princess Atamah and OH Suttyn Harris.
•Atamah competed for Cuneo in Serie A1 and the Italian National Team where she took first with her team at the WEVZA U21 Women's Championship in 2025. Harris on the other hand arrived to campus for spring ball after setting an Inman High School record for most kills in a match (31) and kills in a career (1,570).
• Transfer Class of 2026: S Isabella Mogridge, libero Sierra Grizzle, OPP Loryn Helgesen.
•Grizzle comes to the Utes as the reigning Big 12 leader in digs (578) and digs per set (4.82) while playing for Texas Tech in 2025. Mogridge joins the Utes after spending her first collegiate season with Tennessee after competing as part of the 2025 U19 National Team, while Helgesen was just two hours away at Utah State where she was second on the team in kills per set (3.52).
UP NEXT
The Utes will stay home at the Huntsman Center to host their annual Utah Classic Tournament with participants Wyoming, Long Beach State and No. 4 Pittsburgh competing from Sept. 4-6.
