WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The University of Utah was ranked 10th in the Pac-12 Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, as released by the conference office.
Utah was also selected 10th in last year's preseason poll and ended 2011 in ninth place with a 6-11 mark in league play.
"We know what we're doing in our gym," Utah head coach Beth Launiere said. "We have a lot of good things going and we have some good experience so we'll put what we have out on the floor and hopefully will finish higher than predicted."
UCLA was voted the preseason favorite, followed by Stanford, USC, Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Arizona State, and Oregon State, while Washington State and Colorado followed Utah in the voting.
Pac-12 teams have traditionally been among the best in the nation. In 2011, six teams were ranked in the top 25 in the nation all season, with five spending most of the year in the top five. In addition, seven teams earned NCAA Tournament bids, with UCLA and USC advancing to the national semifinals.
Utah will compete in 12 matches that will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks this season. To make sure you can see all of the action use the Pac-12 Networks Channel Finder. If you don't get Pac-12 Networks now, let your voice be heard by tweeting @DirecTV and @Dish using #IWantPac12Networks.
