Blocks and Blocks and Blocks: Utah is sixth in the NCAA's latest statistical rankings and second in the Pac-12 Conference with 3.08 blocks per set through 11 matches.
Home Sweet Home: The Utes have gone 183-58 (.758) since moving into Crimson Court in 1994. Since the 2000 season, Utah is 130-35 (.788) at home. Utah is 283-175 all-time in home matches, while 23rd-year head coach Beth Launiere carries a 211-84 career record at home at the helm for the Utes.
Home in the Huntsman: Utah will begin practicing on the Jon M. Huntsman Center floor in preparation for its Sept. 21 Pac-12 Conference home opener against Stanford. The Utes have not played in the Huntsman Center since Oct. 1, 1993 against BYU.
Monster Morgan: Utah junior outside hitter Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) was named to the BYU Invitational All-Tournament Team after posting a team-high average of 3.00 kills per set over three matches in Provo, while also contributing 2.67 digs per set, which ranked second on the squad. Odale turned in her second straight double-double, and the 10th of her career, with a team-high 18 kills on a .364 hitting percentage to go along with 13 digs in Saturday's five-set victory over Bowling Green in the tournament finale. Earlier the same day, Odale posted 12 kills and 11 digs for her 16th career double-double and the first of this season in four sets against Portland State. In the tournament opener Friday against host BYU, Odale managed eight digs and six kills. For the season, Odale is second on the Utah squad with 2.65 kills and 2.45 digs per set. This was Odale's second all-tournament honor this season as she was also named to the Utah State Invitational All-Tournament Team during the first weekend of the season.
Double the Fun: In addition to Morgan Odale's output, three other Utes registered double-double performances against Bowling Green.
Bateman Brings It: Sophomore middle blocker Bailey Bateman (Hooper, Utah) came up with her first career double-double as she established new career-high marks with 14 kills on just 22 swings for a .636 hitting percentage to go along with a career-high 12 blocks. Bateman finished just one shy of tying the school-record mark for block assists in a five-set match of 13, which was set by her teammate Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah) earlier this season in Utah's win at Utah State. Bateman leads the Pac-12 with 1.55 blocks per set. She has also turned in a pair of eight-block matches this season and has led or tied for the team lead in blocks in nine of 11 contests in 2012.
For Starters: In her first career start, freshman setter Kendall Cygan (Orange, Calif.) became the fourth Ute to reach double-double status against Bowling Green as she distributed a season-high 48 assists and turned up a career-high 11 digs for her first career double-double.
