Colorado and Stanford Match Notes![]()
The Utah volleyball program begins its second season of Pac-12 Conference competition this week at Colorado and against No. 6 Stanford.
Utah opens its league slate on Wednesday against Colorado in Boulder for the `Rumble in the Rockies'. Action from the Coors Events Center will start at 8 p.m. MT.
The Utes host sixth-ranked Stanford at 7 p.m. on Friday in their first match in the Jon M. Huntsman Center since Oct. 1, 1993.
Both matches will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network with Chris Marlowe (play-by-play) and Amy Gant (analyst) calling the action. In Salt Lake City, Pac-12 Networks is carried on Comcast. Pac-12 Mountain is channel 37, the national Pac-12 Network is channel 410 and Pac-12 Mountain HD is channel 757.
Utah concluded its non-conference slate on a three-match win streak after capturing the 2012 Utah Classic title last weekend and enters this week with a 9-4 overall record.

Blocks and Blocks and Blocks: Utah is third in the NCAA's latest statistical rankings and second in the Pac-12 with a 3.11 block-per-set average as a team. The Utes are 8-1 this season when outblocking their opponents.
Home Sweet Home: The Utes have gone 185-58 (.761) in home games since moving into Crimson Court in 1994. Since the 2000 season, Utah is 132-35 (.790) in home matches. Utah is 285-175 (.620) all-time in home matches, while 23rd-year head coach Beth Launiere carries a 213-84 (.717) career record at home at the helm for the Utes.
Home in the Huntsman: Utah began practicing on the Jon M. Huntsman Center floor last week in preparation for its Sept. 21 Pac-12 home opener against Stanford. The Utes have not played in the Huntsman Center since Oct. 1, 1993 against BYU.
More From Morgan: Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho), a junior outside hitter, was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2012 Utah Classic after posting a team-high 3.44 kills per set on a .333 hitting percentage. Odale ranks second on the Ute squad with 2.76 kills, 2.46 digs and her 0.33 aces per set this season stands eighth in the Pac-12.
Blocking by Bateman: Sophomore middle blocker Bailey Bateman (Hooper, Utah) was named to the 2012 Utah Classic All-Tournament team, the first all-tournament team selection of her career. Bateman is second in the Pac-12's latest statistical rankings with an average of 1.55 blocks per set.
Hit it to Win It: The Utes have won all nine contests this season in which they post a higher hitting percentage than their opponents. Conversely, Utah is 0-4 in 2012 when getting outhit by its opponents.
Defense Wins Matches: The Utes are 6-0 in 2012 when holding their opponents under a .200 hitting percentage on the attack. Utah also carries an unblemished 7-0 record this season when turning in more digs than its opposition.
