WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The University of Utah soccer team has been picked to finish ninth in the Pac-12 Conference this season, according to a preseason poll of the league's coaches, released today.
The Utes hope to exceed preseason expectations after finishing 8-8-3 a season ago and 3-7-1 in league play.
UCLA was selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2013 regular season Pac-12 title. The 2012 Conference runner-ups collected 117 points and 7-of-11 possible first-place votes. Four-time defending Conference champion Stanford was a close second, tallying 115 points
Behind them were California, Washington, Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington State, USC, Utah, Colorado, Oregon and Arizona
Utah kicks off the regular season in 10 days with a road contest at Western Kentucky. Utah's first home game will be Sunday, September 8, against Southern Utah at 1 p.m.
Utah plays five games this season on the Pac-12 network, including four conference games. The first time you can catch the Utes on television will be against Oklahoma on Sunday, September 22 at noon. All games not televised can be seen live via webstream.
