UP NEXT
The Utah volleyball team (6-0) hits the road again this weekend, heading to Nashville, Tenn., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13, to compete in the Lipscomb Invitational. Utah opens the tournament Friday at 3 p.m. (MT) against East Tennessee State (3-4) in a neutral court match at Allen Arena. The Utes conclude the tournament with a pair of matches on Saturday, taking on Georgia Tech (3-3) at 9 a.m. (MT) and Lipscomb (5-2) at 5:30 p.m. (MT).
Utah is 6-0 after defeating Utah Valley in straight sets on Tuesday. Utah has swept four straight opponents for the first time since 2006 and have five sweeps in six matches so far this season.
ETSU is coming off a 2-2 weekend at the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va., last weekend. The Buccaneers swept both George Mason and Lehigh, but fell to Maryland, 1-3, and dropped a five-set match to William & Mary.
GT went 1-2 last weekend at the SMU Doubletree Invitational in Dallas, Texas. The Yellow Jackets fell in straight sets to both SMU and Oklahoma before closing out the tournament with a sweep over Texas Southern.
Lipscomb lost its home-opener on Tuesday, falling 3-0 to Western Kentucky. The Lady Bisons opened the season with a loss to then No. 23-ranked Creighton, but downed No. 22-ranked Kansas that following day, which propelled them to a five-match winning streak.

UTAH QUICK HITS
• The Utes open a seven-match road swing with three matches in Nashville, Tenn., this weekend. Utah will not play another home match until hosting Arizona on Friday, Oct. 3.
• The Utes have swept four straight opponents and five overall this season. Utah had just a pair of sweeps in 2013.
• Utah is 1-0 in neutral court matches so far this season and has a perfect 7-0 mark on a neutral court dating back to last season. The Utes are 13-9 overall on a neutral court since 2010.
• Utah heads into the weekend ranked first in the Pac-12 in opponent hitting percentage, allowing opposing teams to hit at just a clip of .124.
• The Utes rank second in the league with 14.60 kills per set.
• Utah's six consecutive wins to open the 2014 campaign is the second best start to a season since 2001 and fourth best start overall. The Utes won a school-record 10 straight matches to open the season in 2013.

Launiere NOTCHES CAREER WIN NO. 475
Head coach Beth Launiere picked up career win No. 475 in Utah's 3-0 win over Cal Poly on Sept. 6. Now in her 25th season at Utah, Launiere boasts an overall record of 477-290 (.621).
DALTON AND BATEMAN NEARING RECORD MARKS
Seniors Shelby Dalton and Bailey Bateman are both inching closer to making their marks in some elite categories this season. Dalton heads into the weekend with 735 career kills, needing just 265 more to become the 15th member of the 1,000 Kill Club. She has also tallied 354 career blocks and needs just 46 more to become a member of the 400 Block Club. Bateman has 370 total blocks in her career and now needs just 30 more to become a member of the 400 Block Club as well. Should both players join this group, they would become just the 10th and 11th players to do so, respectively.
MOVING UP THE RANKS
Senior Chelsey Schofield-Olsen now ranks fifth all-time in school history with 3,335 career attacks. The Provo, Utah, native moved past former All-American and Utah Hall of Fame member, Kim Turner, last weekend. Turner finished her career with 3,306 attempts.
Senior Bailey Bateman ranks 10th all-time with 354 career block assists and needs just 18 more block assists to surpass Teresa McCabe, who currently ranks ninth all-time with 371 block assists in her career.
BLOCK PARTY
Heading into the weekend, Utah ranks second in the Pac-12 with 2.78 blocks per set. The Utes have led all six of its opponents in blocks this season and are out-blocking foes 55.5-27.0. Redshirt Carly Trueman currently leads the team with 22 total blocks and senior Shelby Dalton follows with 19 total blocks, which includes a team-high four solo block efforts.
ATTACK OF SCHOFIELD-OLSEN
Senior outside hitter Chelsey Schofield-Olsen recorded the third-highest single-match attacking percentage of her career following a .435 hitting percentage against Utah Valley. Schofield-Olsen tallied 13 hits with just three errors on 23 total attack attempts. She registered a career-best .478 hitting percentage against UC-Riverside during her freshman campaign back in 2011.
DeYOUNG MAKES FIRST START
Junior transfer Brenna DeYoung stepped into the starting rotation on Tuesday against Utah Valley and made the most of her first start as she recorded six kills on .667 hitting and tallied five total blocks (2 solo, 3 assists).
SERIES HISTORY
Utah will face both East Tennessee State and Lipscomb for the first time in school history. In the only meeting that the Utes and Yellow Jackets have faced each other, Utah came out on top with the Utah downing the Yellow Jackets in straight sets back on Aug. 31, 2001, in Salt Lake City.
BUCCANEER LEADERS
ETSU's Rylee Milhorn leads her squad with 61 kills (2.54/set) and eight service aces, while Meredith Hardy has tallied a team-high .207 hitting percentage. Jamie Rutledge leads the team with 129 assists (6.45/set), while Kristen Favre follows with 119 assists (6.61/set) in ETSU's 6-2 offensive set. Katie Muey leads ETSU with 147 digs (5.65/set) and Hardy leads all players with 36 total blocks (1.38/set).
YELLOW JACKET LEADERS
Teegan Van Gunst leads the Georgia Tech offensive attack with 60 kills (3.16/set) and Courtney Felinski follows with 53 kills (3.12/set) on the season. Felinski leads the team with a .336 attack percentage, while Rebecca Martin has tallied a team-high 179 assists (9.42/set). GT has five players with 25 or more digs, but Annika Olsen leads the way with 50 digs (2.94/set) on the year. Ashtaan Horton leads the team at the net with 23 total blocks (1.35/set).
LADY BISON LEADERS
Lipscomb's Lauren Ford leads the team with 112 kills and her 4.00 kills per set currently ranks her inside the top-50 players in the nation. Kayla Ostrom tops the squad with 298 assists (10.64/set), while Bri McCombs has a team-high 109 digs (4.36/set) on the season. Molly Spitznagle, who leads the team with a .317 hitting percentage, also leads the team with 26 total blocks (0.93/set).
UTES IN OPENERS
Utah won its seventh consecutive season-opener with a sweep against Montana State back on Aug. 28. It was Utah's 11th straight win over an opponent when opening up the season at home. It was Utah's seventh straight home-opening win, giving the program a 24-16 overall mark in home-openers since 1975. Since 2000, Utah has tallied a home-opening record of 14-1.
Utah on the Road
The Utes have now won five consecutive road-openers and are 7-1 since 2007 following the win at St. Mary's. With the 3-0 win over SMC, Utah swept an opponent on the road in an opener for the first time since 2000.
SCHOFIELD-OLSEN MAKES HISTORY
Senior outside hitter Chelsey Schofield-Olsen became just the fourth player in program history to join the 1,000 kills/1,000 digs club. The Provo, Utah, native recorded her 1,000th dig midway through Utah's match with New Mexico State and became just the eighth player in school history to become a member of the 1,000 dig club as well.
FIRST SET OF NATIONAL STATISTICS RELEASED
The initial set of national rankings were released by the NCAA on Monday and Utah ranked among the top 50 teams in four different statistical categories. The Utes rank 19th overall in blocks per set (2.91), 22nd overall in kills per set (14.41), 42nd overall in hitting percentage (.268) and 47th overall in assists per set (12.94).
Individually, Utah has two different players that rank among the top 100 players in the county. Senior Bailey Bateman ranks 90th overall with 1.21 blocks per set, while redshirt freshman Carly Trueman ranks 56th overall with 1.29 blocks per set. Bateman also ranks 45th overall with a .412 hitting percentage and ranks just outside the top-100 with 0.43 service aces per set (110th).
WHERE THEY PLAY
The Utes will split matches this season between Crimson Court and the Huntsman Center. Utah will host at least six matches inside Crimson Court, including a Pac-12 weekend against California (Oct. 17) and Stanford (Oct. 19). The final six home matches, between Nov. 7 and Nov. 28, will be held inside the Huntsman Center, while two games (Arizona, Oct. 3 and Arizona State, Oct. 5) have yet to be determined due to construction going on inside the Huntsman Center.
2014 SCHEDULE NOTES
Utah will face 10 teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season, which includes non-conference matches against New Mexico State and BYU. The Utes will play in front of 14 home crowds this season and will participate in a pair of tournaments - the Utah Classic (Aug. 29-30) and the Lipscomb Invitational (Sept. 12-13).
UTES PICKED 10TH IN PAC-12 PRESEASON POLL
Despite finishing in a tie for seventh place and returning six seniors, Pac-12 coaches voted Utah to finish 10th overall in the conference this season. Stanford and USC both received five first place votes in the preseason poll, but it was the Cardinal narrowly edging out the Trojans in total points, 114-113. Washington (two first place votes) was picked to finish third, Arizona State was tabbed fourth, while both California and Oregon tied in points to round out the top-five teams.
UTES ON THE PAC-12 NETWORKS
Utah's Pac-12 TV schedule includes home games against Arizona (Oct. 3), Arizona State (Oct. 5), California (Oct. 17), Stanford (Oct. 19), USC (Nov. 7), UCLA (Nov. 9), Washington State (Nov. 13) and Colorado (Nov. 28).
The Utes will play on the Pac-12 Networks when the team travels to Colorado (Sept. 25), Oregon State (Sept. 27), USC (Oct. 11), Washington (Oct. 24), Washington State (Oct. 26), Stanford (Nov. 21) and California (Nov. 23).
UP NEXT
The Utes continue its seven-match road swing with a pair of rival non-conference matches next week. Utah will head to Logan next Wednesday, Sept. 17, to face Utah State and will then head to Provo to face BYU in a Deseret First Duel match with the Cougars.
Utah will then remain on the road to open-up Pac-12 play, traveling to Boulder, Colo., to face Colorado on Thursday, Sept. 25. The Utes will continue Pac-12 play against Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., before returning home to host Arizona State on Friday, Oct. 3.
