Weber State Twilight Schedule of Events
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah track and field team will compete at the Weber State Twilight on Tuesday, May 5. The Utes will send three athletes to compete - sophomore javelin thrower Megan Glasmann, junior sprinter Kia Wilson and freshman distance runner Dakota Grossman.
Glasmann has the 12th-best throw in the NCAA this season (168'4") which is also a Utah school record. She has spent most of the season battling through injury.
Grossman has competed in both the 800 and 1,500 during the outdoor season. Her best time in the 800 came at the Utah Spring Classic (2:19.95), and she ran a season-best time of 4:47.11 in the 1,500 at the San Francisco Distance Carnival.
Wilson finished fourth in the 100 earlier this season at the Weber State Open for her best result of the year.
The remainder of the squad will remain in Salt Lake City, preparing for the Pac-12 Championships, held May 16-17, at UCLA.
The student-athletes will also be concentrating on their finals this week.
"For the most part, we're going to rest most of our kids who will be competing at the conference meet," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "This is finals week here on campus, so it's an incredibly busy and a very stressful week. We're going to emphasize getting better, but we have to emphasize rest as well. We want to be very careful and not overwork them. We know they will be mentally and physically tired because of the extra hours they are putting in for their studies to do as well as they can in the classroom."
