SALT LAKE CITY - Utah track athlete Sarah Feeny will compete in the 1,500 at the Pan American Junior Championships, held July 31-Aug. 2 in Edmonton, Canada.
Feeny earned a spot at the championships with a second-place finish at the USATF Junior Championships in June.
The semifinal for the women's 1,500 is Saturday, Aug. 1, at 11:15 a.m. MT, with the final on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 5:45 p.m. MT.
Feeny ran the second-best time by a freshman this year in the 1,500. She had West Preliminary qualifying times in the 1,500, 800 and 5,000. Feeny struggled with injury as the track season ended but recovered for a strong finish at USATF's. Her personal-best time of 4:18.24 in the 1,500 ranks second all-time at Utah behind five-time All-American Amanda Mergaert. Feeny also runs cross country for the Utes.
