SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Soccer finished No. 16 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America rankings this afternoon. This is the first time the Utes have finished a season ranked since 2006 (11th).
This year's team had the best postseason performance in program history, reaching the third round of the NCAA Tournament with wins over Texas Tech and No. 10 FSU before falling to eventual national champion USC.
The Utes won 13 games, their most since 2006, accrued its highest point total since joining the Pac-12, featured a pair of NSCAA All-Region selections (
Hailey Skolmoski and
Tavia Leachman) and three All Pac-12 performers (Skolmoski, Leachman,
Katie Rogers)
The No. 11 ranking for the '06 Utes is the highest ever as that team won 16 matches, was perfect in Mountain West Conference play and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2003 Utes also finished the season ranked, coming in at No. 24 with 16 wins and an undefeated MWC title season. All three teams have been led by current head coach
