Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus Stanford Invitational on April 3, 2026

SAN DIEGO, Calif.- Representing the Utes in the heptathlon, sophomore Madison Lanford and freshman Lauren McCluskey are in fifth and sixth place following the first day of the San Diego State Aztec Invitational.
After the first four events of the heptathlon, Lanford has earned 2643 points and McCluskey has collected 2,624.
Lanford got things off to a quick start in the 100-meter hurdles clocking a time of 15.25 seconds to capture 809 points. McCluskey also performed well, earning 758 points with a time of 15.65 seconds.
Lanford and McCluskey followed that performance with another impressive showing in the high jump. McCluskey led the Utes in this event, clearing a height of 5-1.25 feet. Lanford also gave tremendous effort, clearing the mark of 4-7.5 feet.
The third event of the day featured McCluskey posting a throw of 34-10.5 feet in the shot put. Lanford threw a distance of 30-10.25 feet.
Wrapping up the day, Lanford recorded a time of 25.73 seconds in the 200, followed by McCluskey with a time of 28.32 seconds.
Lanford and McCluskey will return for the remaining heptathlon events on Friday at 9 a.m. PST.
