Spring Signing Release
SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Soccer announced the addition of Aleea Gwerder for the 2016 season this afternoon.
Aleea Gwerder - Defender - Enumclaw, Wash. - Enumclaw High School - Washington Premier
Gwerder is ranked as the No. 6 player in the Pacific Northwest and No.128 nationally by Top Drawer Soccer after competing in the 2015 Nike National Training Camp. She led Washington Premier to a U18 2013 Rainier Challenge championship and the National ECNL Playoffs.
Gwerder was also an accomplished runner at Enumclaw. She was the captain of the cross country team, leading them to a district title and qualifying four years in a row of the state championships. She was also named the 2015 3A SPSL Female Athlete of the Year for her performances during the track season. She holds the school record in both the 200 and 400 yard dash.
"I chose Utah because it provides me an opportunity to grow as both a player and a person," Gwerder said. "Coming to Utah also allows me a chance to pursue my academic goals and chosen career path."
She is the daughter of Paul and Judy and has three siblings, Jeremy, Carissa and Caleb. Aleea plans to pursue a degree in pharmaceutical or medical laboratory sciences. At Enumclaw, Gwerder was also a member of the Key Club, National Junior Honor Society, Junior Honor Guard, and Honor Roll while being named a Washington Principals' Scholar. She enjoys reading in her spare time on her family's dairy farm.
