SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah head volleyball coach Beth Launiere announced on Wednesday that three players have been added to the 2016 roster. Tawnee Luafalemana (College of Southern Idaho) and Lauren Sproule (Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada) have both signed National Letters of Intent, while Brianna Doehrmann (Murrieta, Calif.) has signed a Letter of Acceptance to the U.
"Our three new additions, along with Torre Glasker and Bailey Choy who signed with us in the fall, give us a strong recruiting class to go along with our very talented players currently on our roster," said Launiere. "Our 2015 team was full of young talent that now has a year more of experience. We had a great offseason of training and feel that with the addition of our new players, 2016 will be an exciting year for Utah Volleyball."
Luafalemana will transfer to Utah in Fall after helping guide both CSI and Blinn College (Texas) to National Championships the previous two seasons. Luafalemana, a 6-0 middle blocker, spent her freshman season at Blinn College where she posted 307 kills (2.84/set) and 126 total blocks (1.17/set). She tallied 11 kills in the Buccaneer's national title match against Miami Dade College back in 2014.
This past season at CSI, Luafalemana posted 435 kills (3.15/set), which ranked 25th-most among NJCAA Division I athletes. She tallied a .371 hitting percentage, which ranked eighth-best in the nation and she also notched 149 total blocks (1.07/set) on the year. The Carson, Calif., native recorded a match-high 18 kills in CSI's national title match against Western Nebraska and then went on to earn Region 18 Player of the Year and NJCAA First-Team All-American honors.
Luafalemana is the daughter of Shonya Coleman and Tony Luafalemana. She has six siblings: Tenelle, Tarryn, Antonio, Roman, Nicole and Anthony.
"Tawnee is an exceptional athlete with tremendous speed and strength," said Launiere. "She has great lateral quickness and is a dynamic player all around. She is also a great competitor and leader who won two NJCAA National Championships with two different teams. We are excited for Tawnee to join our program and bring that competitive spirit to the team next year."
Sproule will join the team following two seasons on the varsity squad at Chinook High School, where she played under head coach Jamie Bach. Sproule helped guide her team to both league and zone championships in 2014 and 2015. She was named a Southern League All-Star and a Harry Ainlay Tournament All-Star this past Fall.

"Lauren is a tremendous athlete who plays high above the net," said Launiere. "She is a versatile player with good skills and we are excited to get her into the gym and start training. It is equally exciting to have our first Canadian player in the program and look forward to that relationship."
Doehrmann will enroll at Utah in the fall after playing the previous three seasons at Vista Murrieta High School under the direction of head coach Kristen Cooke. Doehrmann, a 5-8 libero/defensive specialist, started all 67 sets for the Broncos her senior season, where she led the team with 283 digs (4.2/set) and ranked second on the squad with 21 service aces. "Bri is a gifted athlete with highly developed passing and defensive skills," said Launiere. "As a libero for one of the top junior clubs in the country, she has learned to play at a high level and it has prepared her well for the next level of collegiate volleyball. Bri also brings a high level of passion and enthusiasm to both the court and her everyday life. We're looking forward to having that energy in our program every day."
