SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Soccer has announced the dates and opponents for its 2016 schedule. The team will play nine games against squads that reached the NCAA Tournament last season and 10 contests at Ute Field
"I hope our fans are ready to rock Ute Field this year," head coach Rich Manning said. "We have lots of excitement in store including great games with in-state rivals, teams with entertaining styles and of course, some fantastic Pac-12 action."
The Utes begin their season Fri., Aug. 19 with a home game against local foe Weber State. Utah then travels to Minneapolis for the first of two contests against foes from the Big Ten Conference when they play Minnesota on Sun., Aug. 21.
There will be another home-and-home for the Utes the following weekend when it hosts San Diego on Friday before traveling north to Logan for a Sunday contest at Utah State.
The annual Deseret Duel will take place on Mon., Sept. 5 when BYU comes to town. Utah has won the last two games at home against the Cougars.
The Utes then start a span that sees them play six of the next seven games on the road. Utah visits Purdue (Fri., Sept. 9), North Dakota State (Sun., Sept. 11) and Utah Valley (Fri., Sept. 16) before closing the non-conference slate at home against UC Irvine on Sun., Sept. 18.
Pac-12 play begins with trips to Washington (Fri., Sept. 23), Arizona State (Thurs., Sept. 29) and Arizona (Sun., Oct. 2) before finally returning home for dates against Oregon State (Thur., Oct. 6), Oregon (Sun., Oct. 9) and Washington State (Fri., Oct. 14) .
The Utes head to Cal and Stanford (Thur., Oct. 20/Sun., Oct. 23) before their final home stand against USC and UCLA (Thur., Oct. 27/Sun., Oct. 30). The last game of the regular season is the annual rivalry contest at Colorado on Fri., Nov. 4.
The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is Nov. 11-13 with host sites to be determined
The Pac-12 Conference will finalize television information and start times in June.
"We will have an excellent team this year that will be fun to watch," Manning added. "Our returners have worked hard this spring to set the tone and we have some great new personalities joining them this summer.
