SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Soccer will be heading to Germany tomorrow for three matches during a 10-day stretch
"I think this will be an amazing trip because we get to go to a different country and experience things as a team," senior Katie Rogers stated. "We are already a tight unit off the field and its been translating to our play this spring so this experience can only help improve our team's chemistry."
The Utes will travel to a number of cities including Frankfurt, Munich and Augsburg while also making a jaunt into the Alps. Utah is scheduled to play matches against SC Opel 06 Ru¨sselheim, MTV Dießen and FC Staad. "This trip is an incredible opportunity for our players and staff," head coach Rich Manning said. "We are going to play quality teams and watch some top-level matches that involve the best European soccer has to offer. Our team has worked hard planning and raising funds for this trip. We are also thankful for the people that have supported this endeavor and we can't wait to get started!"
The group will also take in a Bundesliga match between FC Augsburg and Hamburger SV, visit a TSV Hoffenheim practice at its training ground and take tour of the Allianz Arena, home of German champion Bayern Munich.
"I'm so excited," junior Natalie Vukic said. "I've been out of the country once so going on this trip is going to be amazing. I think it will be really cool to meet the local teams and I can't wait to explore all the historical sites and spend time in the different towns."
"Soccer is a world game and I love that we can take advantage of a common passion to connect with other folks," Manning added. "We will get to experience different cultures, see historic sites and visit some of the most beautiful places on Earth. This is another great opportunity our student-athletes are afforded at the University of Utah."
