TEMPE, Ariz. - Utah Softball continued to impress during the second day of the Kajikawa Classic shutting out both Indiana, 7-0, and UTEP, 9-0.

Hailey Hilburn combined for 12 innings pitched, allowing no runs on four hits, issuing one walk and striking out 10

Hannah Flippen went 4-for-6 on the day and led the way with four runs scored.
Anissa Urtez was also 4-for-6 with five runs batted in. The pair of seniors each collected two doubles. Freshman
Kelly Martinez also excelled at the plate with four hits in five at-bats.

Utah 7, Indiana 0
Utah attacked early when Urtez knocked home
Delilah Pacheco with a single to center. The Utes continued the onslaught with four more in the second inning.

An errant throw on a double-steal attempt allowed
Alyssa Barrera to scamper home and
Kay Kay Fronda followed with a single through the right side to score Martinez. Flippen would follow by rapping a single to left and Urtez capped the frame with a double down the leftfield line to make it 5-0.

Martinez continued her strong performance by singling home
Sammy Cordova in the fifth and
Heather Bowen drove in Flippen with a single to left in the sixth.

Donovan continued her shutout streak to open the season while Hilburn did the same with two no-hit innings of relief.

Utah 9, UTEP 0
The Utes plated eight runs in the first inning off of three different UTEP pitchers to put the game out of reach.

Urtez started things off with a single to center that scored Pacheco and Bowen followed with a two-run double that brought in Flippen and Barrera. Hilburn did some damage at the plate with a two-run single for a 5-0 edge.

Bella Secaira drew a four-pitch walk with the bases loaded to bring in Cordova and Barrera was plunked which allowed
Bridget Castro to stroll across the plate. Another free pass to Urtez with the sacks packed brought in Martinez before UTEP was able to get out of the frame.

The last run of the game was scored in the third when Urtez drove home Flippen with a double, her fourth hit of the inning.

Viramontes picked up her second win in as many days with three innings of shutout ball. Like the first game, Hilburn entered and threw two innings of perfect relief.
