LONG BEACH, Calif. – Miranda Viramontes threw a perfect game and Utah Softball pushed its shutout streak to five games with a pair of 8-0 victories today over CSU Bakersfield and Long Beach State.

Hannah Flippen had five hits, extending her on-base streak to 12 games, and scored three runs, moving into second place all-time with 161 for her career, passing Kate Dickman. The Utah senior is now 16 shy of Katie Rhea's school record.

Freshman
Alyssa Barrera went 4-for-5, reaching base seven times over two games and scored four runs for the Utes. She has hit safely in the first seven games of her collegiate career. Meanwhile, classmate
Kelly Martinez had three hits and drove in three runs to pace Utah.

Miranda Viramontes threw a perfect game, striking out a season-high seven batters over six innings, as the Utes took the opener. This was the first perfect game for a Ute pitcher sinceÂ

Utah got on the board in the third when
Anissa Urtez grounded to short and the throw to first sailed over the fielder's head, allowing
Alyssa Barrera to score.      Â

The Utes broke it open in the fifth with four runs in the frame. Utah loaded the bases and
Heather Bowen worked a four-pitch walk to bring
Delilah Pacheco plate ward.

Ally Dickman smoked a ball back to the circle and CSUB was able to get a force at home. However, in trying to get a double play, the throw to first was awry and Urtez scored. With the inning prolonged,
Kelly Martinez smoked a two-run single to left for a 5-0 edge

The Utes pushed the Roadrunners to the brink with three more runs in the sixth.
Hannah Flippen knocked home Pacheco with a single through the left side of the infield.

Utah attempted a double-steal and the throw to third hit Barrera in the helmet and traveled into left field. This allowed the Ute right fielder to scoot home and during the ensuing at-bat Urtez smoked a ball that the CSUB shortstop could not get in front of to push across another run for an 8-0 lead.

Katie Donovan went five innings for the win, allowing just two hits and striking out six.
Hailey Hilburn pitched the sixth and final inning in relief and got a strikeout. The sophomore is yet to allow a hit this season in seven innings of work.

Ally Dickman lifted a fly ball to left that brought in
Hannah Flippen for an early 2-0 lead.

In the fifth,
Heather Bowen,
Kelly Martinez and
Kay Kay Fronda each pelted run-scoring singles as the Ute advantage grew to 5-0.

Utah closed things out in the sixth, starting off with an Urtez sacrifice fly to score
Delilah Pacheco.
Ally Dickman singled through the left side to bring in Barrera and
Maddie Roth got plunked with the bases loaded for the 8-0 final.
