No. 16 Utah Softball stays in the state but travels to St. George for the Red Desert Classic this weekend. The Utes will play a pair of games on both Friday and Saturday.

UTAH NOTES
- Utah moved up one spot in the ESPN/USA Softball poll to No. 16 and remained at No. 17 in the latest NFCA/USA Today rankings.

- Utah was pegged at No. 15 in the country two weeks ago, it's highest ranking in program history.

Hannah Flippen recently surpassed the 200-hit and 100-RBI plateaus for her career.  She is 10 runs shy of setting the Utah career mark for runs scored set by Sandy Rhea (1995-98).

Miranda Viramontes threw a perfect game vs. CSU Bakersfield, Utah's first in a decade. She carries a 0.90 ratio and ranks among the top five in the Pac-12 in walks per seven innings.

Katie Donovan is 10th in the nation with seven wins and also ranks among the top five in the conference in ERA (0.67) and sixth in strikeouts. She recently surpassed 300 strikeouts for her career.

Hailey Hilburn is yet to allow a hit in eight innings of relief. As a team, the Utes have a 6:1 strikeout to walk ratio

Heather Bowen is also heating up with a team-high 16 runs batted in, fourth in the Pac-12

- Utah currently ranks third in the nation with a combined team ERA of 0.69

- Defensively, Utah leads the league in double plays turned. This comes after ranking second in the nation last season.

- Utah ranks among the top 25 in batting (.337) and on-base percentage (.425) while ranking 26th in scoring at 6.54 runs per game.

LAST WEEK
The Utes started with three wins in the Mary Nutter Classic, shutouts of No. 13 Tennessee, Houston and No. 7 LSU. However, the team suffered consecutive one-run setbacks on Sunday to San Diego State and Cal State Fullerton.

Alyssa Barrera led the team with a .625 batting average and five runs scored. She reached base nine times in three games for Utah.
Hannah Flippen batted .600 and also scored five runs while
Heather Bowen batted .600 with her second homer of the season and a team-high five runs batted in.
