SALT LAKE CITY - Junior

Â
To qualify for the indoor track and field national championships, an athlete must rank within the top 16 in the nation in his or her respective event. After Murphy's school-record breaking performance at the MPSF Championships, her 5,000 time of 15:53.24 ranks 11
th in the nation heading into the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Â
Murphy will be Utah's first athlete to appear in the NCAA Indoor Championships since Amanda Mergaert earned All-America honors in the mile with a fifth-place finish in 2013.
Â
In her first indoor track season at Utah, Murphy broke a 35-year old school record in the 5,000 in her first-ever collegiate 5,000 at the Husky Classic. Two weeks later, Murphy improved her time by 23 seconds and became the first female athlete at Utah to break the 16-minute mark in indoor or outdoor.
