EUGENE, Ore. – Following two rounds of play at the 28^th Annual Duck Invitational, the Utah men's golf team sits in fifth-place after carding a combined 10-over par (578) as they head into Tuesday's final round at Eugene Country Club.
 
The Utes opened play with a first-round score of 2-over par (286) and then followed with an 8-over par (292) over the final 18 holes on Monday. Tournament host Oregon, which ranks No. 10 in the nation according to the latest GCAA Coaches Poll, leads the 15-team field after 36 holes of play with a score of 8-under par (283-277=560). Arizona (+2, 283-287=570) and Oregon State (+5, 288-285=573) follow, while No. 23 San Diego State (+9, 284-294=577) rounds out the top-five.
 
Senior Gentry Hicks carded a first-round 2-under par (69) and followed with a 1-over par (72) in the second round and currently sits among the top-10 in a tie for ninth-place with a two-round score of 1-under (141).
 
Three Utes are among the top-30, as freshman Jordan Costello (+3, 72-73=145) sits in a tie for 22nd-place, while sophomores Kyler Dunkle (+4, 73-73=146) and Nathan Wunderli (+4, 72-74=146) are both tied for 28th-place.
 
Freshman Mitchell Schow (+16, 82-76=158) rounded out Utah's scoring and heads into tomorrow's final round in a tie for 80th-place.
 
"We played really good golf for most of the day," said Utah head coach Garrett Clegg. "We just need to put it all together tomorrow. Gentry is playing great and the guys are competing well overall right now. We will need to finish it off tomorrow."
