SALT LAKE CITY – Freshman
Timmy Allen was one of five Utah players to score in double figures and the Runnin' Utes opened the 2018-19 campaign with a 96-76 exhibition win over College of Idaho Thursday night at the Huntsman Center.
Allen, who finished with a team-high 18 points, was 6-of-11 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. He also posted seven rebounds and four assists on the evening. Sophomore

Both Gach totaled 12 points for the Utes, while senior
Novak Topalovic added 11 points and senior
Sedrick Barefield tallied 10 points for the home squad.
Topalovic pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds for a double-double on the evening and the graduate transfer added a team-best two blocked shots. Tillman and freshman
Vante Hendrix led the defense with two steals each.
Thanks to first-half runs of 9-0 and 14-2, Utah would take a 57-29 lead into the break. Gach led the Utes at halftime with 11 points and Allen followed with 10 points. Utah shot .556 percent from the field overall, making 20 of its 36 shots through the first 20 minutes of play. The effort included going 6-for-14 (.429) from three point range and the home squad managed to go 11-for-15 (.733) from the charity stripe.
Despite shooting just .438 as a team in the second half, Utah would end the night shooting .500 (34-68) from the field, .355 (11-31) from three-point range and .708 (17-24) from the free throw line. Tillman, Barefield,

Parker Van Dyke tied for the team lead with a pair of three-pointers each. Allen led the charge at the charity stripe with his six free throws made and Gach followed going 5-of-6 from the stripe.
Utah out-rebounded the Yotes 38 to 35 overall and that total included 11 boards on the offensive side of the ball. The Utes would go onto outscore its opposition, 21-10, in second-chance points on the evening.
Utah will be back in action again next Thursday, Nov. 8, opening the regular season with a home contest against Maine. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MT at the Huntsman Center.
