KANSAS CITY - Utah Soccer had two student-athletes,
Hailey Skolmoski and
Paola van der Veen, selected All-Pacific Region by the United Soccer Coaches. This is the ninth time in program history the Utes have had multiple honorees in a single season.
Van der Veen earned a spot on the second team after a third-team nod last season. A two-time All-Pac-12 contributor, Van der Veen scored seven times to pace the Utes and her three game-winners in Pac-12 play were the most of any player in the conference. The Dutch native also led Utah in points (16) and became just the sixth Ute to lead the team in goals and points in consecutive years:
Skolmoski picked up a spot on the third team this season as a defender after earning first team recognition in 2016 as a striker. Like Van der Veen, Skolmoski earned All-Pac-12 honors for a second time this season. She finished fifth in Utah history with 26 career goals, matching Jacki Doman (1995-96). Despite moving to defense for the final seven games, she still finished second on the squad with four goals this season and her last one against Nevada, was the 11th game-winner of her career.
Since 1999, 19 Utes have earned 27 All-Region honors. Skolmoski and Van der Veen are the first Utes since 2009 to earn multiple honors. They join Amanda Feigt (2003 '06), Ashley Mason (2003 '06), Melissa Wayman (2005 '06), Adele Letro (2006 '07) and Kelly Isleib (2007 '08, '09).
