SALT LAKE CITY – A pair of Utes were named to the AVCA All-Pacific South Region Team as sophomores
Dani Drews and
Kenzie Koerber were both recognized for the first time.
Drews was named All-Pacific South Region after leading the team with 522 kills. She became the second player in program history during the rally-scoring era to eclipse the 500-kill mark. Utah ended the regular season winning five of its last six matches and a big part of that was Drews averaging 5.09 kills per set hitting .342 over that stretch.
In the last two matches against No. 15 USC and Colorado, she set two program records with 22 kills in a three-set match against the Trojans and 30 kills in a four-set match against the Buffaloes. Drews earned her first Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award after the great week.
Drews was also second on the team in service aces with 38 and second on the team in digs with 332. She led the team and was second in the Pac-12 with 18 double-doubles this season. This was her first career All-Region award.
Koerber was named All-Pacific South Region honorable mention for the first time. The sophomore right side finished third on the team in kills with 264 and second on the team in blocks with 108.0. In Pac-12 play, she was a force having at least 5.0 blocks in eight matches. She led the team in blocks in nine matches this season.
Since both have made the All-Region team, both are now eligible to be All-Americans.
