SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah volleyball program has announced improvements to its booster club, now to be named the Block U Club, which will begin with the upcoming 2018 season.
Â
The Block U Club, formerly known as the Spiker Club, now has many new and extra-added benefits for members. A membership normally runs $100 per person, but is currently on sale for $75 for members who sign up between now and Saturday, Aug. 18.
Â
"I am so excited about the renaming, rebranding and revamping of the Utah volleyball booster program, from the Spiker Club to what is now known as the Block U Club," said Utah head coach
Beth Launiere. "The Utes have been well known for the strength of our blocking throughout our history, even leading the nation in blocks-per-set in 2006. We feel the Block U Club represents both the Utes brand and the Utah volleyball brand at its finest.
Â
"The former Spiker Club began in the early 2000's, with a group of local parents of players that wanted to support the program. Since then, it has developed into a club that is highly engaged with players and coaches, has members that follow the team around the country, and while continuing to support the program as a fan base, has also become a fundraising arm of the Crimson Club that goes directly to the Utah volleyball program."
Â
Members who sign up for the Block U Club receive certain benefits, which include a Block U t-shirt, three concession coupons, five general admission tickets to any match, and a post-match team meet-n-greet opportunity, to name a few. Â
"The Block U Club will begin with a strong base of over 100 members in which we hope to grow to over 300 in the near future," said Launiere. "I hope many new people will consider joining our club as we are offering more and new innovative ways to be a part of the Utah volleyball program. Block U members will feel a part of our program and gain benefits, far outreaching what they may anticipate.
Â
"We also hope families with young children will join, as we believe it can be a wonderful family activity. Utah volleyball players are tremendous role models for young kids. I encourage you to join the Block U Club to be a part of something special and support your blocking Utes."
Â
Anyone can join the Block U Club, and by purchasing a membership, you will directly help support the team and their efforts as they compete in the Conference of Champions.
