With the 2018 season set to begin, No. 19 Utah has welcomed five newcomers to the roster with two transfers and three freshmen.
Leading up to the season, Utahutes.com will be posting a quick Q&A with each newcomer. The first is junior libero/defensive specialist
Taylor Laugero. She went to Santa Clara for two seasons before becoming a Ute.
Over her two seasons at Santa Clara, she totaled 678 digs, 127 assists and 44 service aces.
Laugero is originally from Escalon, California.
While you were getting recruited, what made you so excited about Utah?
Many things excited me about Utah, but I'd have to say the high level of competition, the coaches, the team and campus were my favorites.
What stood out to you about campus when you came to visit?
How much support Utah athletics has and the care that all staff has for the student-athletes are the two things that stood out to me a lot.
How would you describe your game on the court?
On the court, I would say my game is consistent and aggressive. I'm pretty cool, calm and collected, but when a job needs to get done, I get it done.
What are your goals on and off the court while you're at Utah?
While in college, my goals are to do well in the classroom and keep a good GPA, graduate with my bachelors and to win a national championship on the volleyball court.
What do you want to add to the team this season?
I want to add enthusiasm, good communication, a strong work ethic and a strong defender to the team this season.
Utah begins the season on Friday, August 24 at 7 p.m. against UC Irvine in the Huntsman Center.
