STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Guro Jordheim won for the second-straight day in the women's classic and seven total top 10 finishes increased the Utah ski team's lead in the overall standings at the Colorado Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Utah leads Denver, 602 to 517, with just the men's slalom remaining. The men's slalom was postponed and will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19. Colorado ranks third with 457.5 points followed by Alaska Anchorage (432) and Montana State (421).
Jordheim won her ninth collegiate race. She was third at the 5-km split and beat out Colorado's Hedda Baangman in a sprint to the line.
Karianne Moe earned her first career podium finish in a third-place run while
Mariah Bredal and
Leah Lange raced for fifth and sixth, respectively. The women scored 103 points, which is the most any team has scored in any race over this meet.
Diekmann finished on the podium for the second-straight day with a career-best second-place finish.
Ola Jordheim finished fifth for the second-straight day while
Maximilian Bie placed eighth for his first top-10 finish.
Jacob Engström placed 28
th.
The Utes head to Montana beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 16, with the second RMISA giant slalom qualifier and followed by the Montana State Invitational from Jan. 17-19.
