BOISE, Idaho – The Utah women's track and field team returned to indoor action Friday evening at the first day of the Ed Jacoby Invitational in Boise, Idaho. The Utes had two squads compete in the women's distance medley relay where they finished in second and third place.Â

"I feel like we have improved significantly and our kids came back from break in great shape and did a great job of maintaining in game fitness," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "We are going to try and put it together as best as we can tomorrow and I'm just really excited. I think our team is in a really good place and I'm excited to see them go to work tomorrow."Â Â

Squad 'C' led the way for Utah as they captured a second-place finish with a time of 12:38.29. Running in squad 'C' was sophomore's

"I thought our teams ran really well. I thought we got a really good lead off leg from
Trina Moreno and did a good job of getting that team out of the gate," Kepler said. "We are just putting in some good work this weekend and I loved the way these kids competed. The support from the rest of the team was outstanding and it is just a great start to the 2019 year."Â

Nevada took home the event title with a time of 12:27.32. The College of Idaho entered two teams and rounded out the competing teams by finishing in fourth (12:56.40) and fifth place (13:15.24).Â

The Utes will be back in action tomorrow for day two of the Ed Jacoby Invitational. Utah will start the day with the women's shot-put event set to start at 11:30 a.m. (MST).Â
