KICKOFF
Utah Soccer hits the road for the last time in the 2019 season with games at Washington State on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT and No. 21 Washington on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT
WEEK IN REVIEW
Utah started the weekend with an early goal from
Ireland Dunn against Cal. However, the Golden Bears battled back for a 2-1 result at Ute Field. On Sunday, snowy weather delayed kick-off against No. 2 Stanford by two-and-a-half hours before the Cardinal turned up the heat in a 4-0 loss.
SERIES HISTORY
Utah owns an 8-6-1 record vs. Washington State, including a 3-3-1 mark away from home. The Utes have one win on the Palouse since joining the Pac-12, a 4-3 overtime thriller in 2013 with Katie Taylor scoring the winner.
The last visit here, in 2017, resulted in a 3-0 loss as Morgan Weaver capped the scoring for the Cougars. Last season, the Utes upset No. 7 WSU on an overtime winner from
Holly Daugirda, the first goal of her career
Utah has an even 6-6 mark against Washington, with a 2-4 record in Seattle. The ast meeting here, also in 2017, was a 2-0 loss to the Huskies. One year ago,
Ireland Dunn and
Makayla Christensen scored in a 2-0 Utah win back in Salt Lake City.
NELSON NEXT LEVEL IN NET
Carly Nelson was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week on Sep. 24 after a pair of shutouts against Butler and San Diego.
The Ute stopper combined with Utah's defense to blank its last four opponents in non-conference play. This was the longest shutout streak for a Ute defense since the 2006 season (9 games)
The senior from Lindon leads the Pac-12 with 89 saves, eight shutouts and 1625:43 minutes played (24th nationally). She also sits third in the conference with an .817 save percentage
Nelson's 21 career shutouts place her third all-time in Utah history and she needs eight saves to crack the top five in that category.
This was the 16th Pac-12 weekly award for Utah Soccer and fourth for Nelson
