SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 17 Utah volleyball team won its final home match of the regular season on Senior Night in straight sets against Oregon State (25-16, 25-22, 25-18).
Senior
Berkeley Oblad led the way with 16 kills with zero errors hitting .667 and added 4.0 blocks and four digs.
Kinga Windisch had one kill, three digs and one ace.
Brianna Doehrmann finished the night with seven digs.
Utah started the night strong and didn't slow down. With the first set tight early, Utah went on a 12-2 run to close the set 25-16. Four of Oblad's kills came during that run to end the opening set.
The Utes used a 5-1 run early in the second to grab a 5-2 advantage. They stretched their lead out more to 12-7 and were able to hold that lead the rest of the way. The Beavers got back within one at 18-17, but Utah won the next two to regain some breathing room. Oblad got the final kill of the set to put the Utes up 2-0.
With the chance for a sweep, Utah got their lead as high as 11 at 16-5. Oregon State didn't go quietly, but Utah ended the match with Oblad's 16
th kill of the night.
The win pushes Utah to 21-9 and 13-6 in the Pac-12. The 13 wins ties the most wins for Utah in conference play since joining the Pac-12 in 2011.
Along with Oblad, Utah had
Dani Drews with double-figure kills at 12.
Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres had 38 assists and five digs.
Megan Yett led the team in digs with 10.
Utah has one match left in the regular season on the road against Colorado this Saturday, November 30 at 11 a.m. The NCAA Selection Show for the NCAA Tournament is Sunday, December 1 at 6:30 MT.
