KANSAS CITY - Utah Soccer student-athletes
Tavia Leachman and
Carly Nelson were selected All-Pacific Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
This is the 10 time in program history the Utes have had multiple honorees in a single season. Since 1999, 21 Utes have earned 29 All-Region honors.
Leachman, a defensive stalwart for the Utes, was named to the second team. The Long Beach, California native started every game this season and played every minute in all but two contests
In the final home game of her career, Leachman played the full 90 minutes of Utah's 10th shutout of the season to earn Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time.
Nelson led the Pac-12 with 10 shutouts (13th nationally), 101 saves (24th nationally), and 1895:43 minutes played (eighth nationally). She also ranked second in the conference with an .808 save percentage and earned a spot on the third team.
The senior from Lindon became the first Ute in almost two decades to top 100 stops in a single season. She amassed 23 shutouts for her career, ranking third in Utah history, and set the single-season mark for blankings by a Utah goalkeeper
Nelson, Leachman and the rest of Utah's defense combined to blank its last four opponents in non-conference play. This was the longest shutout streak for a Ute defense since the 2006 season (9 games)
