Utah was in the bonus before the first media timeout and then the double bonus prior to the 12-minute mark. ASU joined Utah in the double bonus with less than eight minutes to play.

The Sun Devils would later push its lead to 16 points, up 72-56 with 10:33 left to play, but Utah bounced back with an 8-2 run to get back within nine points.

POSTGAME QUOTES
Utah head coach Larry Krystkowiak
On not starting strong …
"I thought as silly as it sounds the rebounding was such a big key, the first time they missed we had two guys fighting for the ball and it went out of bounds. They had 18 second chance points and then we shot ourselves in the foot where we had a stretch of mindless turnovers. I thought they played harder than we did, and that's a shame. I think they got all the checkmarks tonight, I knew it was going to be a dogfight, and we got back into it at halftime, but if you don't come up with 50-50 balls then you can't win. I thought the best team won tonight."
On playing defense…
"You have to guard without fouling and you have to rebound. There's a lot of in-betweens. They did isolation ball, and without a doubt, Rob Edwards had one of his best games. At the end of the day, we were almost surprised when they missed, because we got the rebound. We just weren't tough enough."
On playing up tempo…
"We wanted to get stops, but the problem is we couldn't. You have to get stops in order to play up tempo, we didn't have that flow tonight at all. It wasn't about tempo, it was about all the little things. We started both halves playing lazy and turning the ball over. We weren't trying to play fast, but we kept turning the ball over. We just shot ourselves in the foot."
Arizona State head coach Bobby Hurley
On tonight's road win …
"The guys did a great job and they were up for the challenge. We had a tough loss on Wednesday, but we rebounded back from that well and got a special performance from Edwards. When he plays like that, we're a very tough team to deal with."
On how ASU rebounded after Wednesday's loss …
"Shot selection is always important, but our offense certainly fueled our defense. They scored a lot of points but a good amount of them came from free-throws. I thought we did a pretty good job for the most part down on the floor, we shot it very well and that's the best we have shot from the three-point line all season."
