THE GAME
Utah (14-12, 8-6 Pac-12) wraps up its two-game road swing through the Pacific Northwest taking on the Washington State Cougars this Saturday, Feb. 23, in Puallman, Wash. The Utes and Cougars are set to tip-off from Beasley Coliseum at 5 p.m. PT.
COVERING THE RUNNIN' UTES
Saturday's contest will air on the Utah Athletics Radio Network (ESPN 700 AM) with Bill Riley and
Jimmy Soto announcing. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks, with Guy Haberman calling play-by-play and Eldridge Recasner serving as the color analyst.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON STATE
Washington State won its third game in the past four contests, defeating Colorado 76-74 this past Wednesday in Pullman. The Cougars shot 45 percent from the field and nearly 53 percent from three-point range, while limiting the Buffs to just a 38 percent overall. Robert Franks led a quartet of double-digit scorers with 19 points and CJ Elleby scored 18 points off the bench for WSU.
The Cougars are shooting .460 from the field overall, .360 from three-point range and .761 from the charity stripe. Robert Franks leads the team with a Pac-12 best 22.1 points per game average and he also has a team-best 7.4 rebounds per game average on the year. WSU's Marvin Cannon leads his team and the Pac-12 with a .897 free throw shooting percentage as he has knocked down 78 of his 87 free throw attempts.
UTAH vs. WASHINGTON STATE SERIES HISTORY
Utah registered its 10th straight win over Washington State back on Jan. 12, in Salt Lake City, downing the Cougars 88-70 at the Huntsman Center. Utah, who is now 24-4 all-time when facing WSU, last fell to WSU back on Jan. 12, 2014 - a 49-46 defeat to the Cougars in Pullman. Utah is 6-2 all-time when facing the Cougars on the road, having won four straight dating back to the 2014-15 season.
LAST TIME OUT
Utah snapped its four-game road winning streak with a 62-45 loss at Washington on Wednesday. The Utes shot a season-low .280 field goal percentage, while draining just 14-of-50 attempts overall. The 14 field goals were also a season-low for the Utes.
Sedrick Barefield led the way with 12 points and
Jayce Johnson led the team with a game-high 12 rebounds.
Beau Rydalch registered a career-high five points off the bench, going 2-of-2 from the field overall and knocking down his lone three-point attempt.
