Utah Men's Golf Notes
OFF THE TEE
Fresh off the team and individual titles this past week, the Utah men's golf team is set to compete at the N.I.T this Monday and Tuesday, March 18-19. Hosted by Arizona, the N.I.T will be played at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The team event will be played on the Catalina Course, while individuals competing will play on the Sonoran Course.

THE FIELD
Utah will compete in a field of 16 teams at the N.I.T. The field is: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Colorado State, Iowa State, New Mexico, North Texas, Oklahoma, San Diego, San Diego State, UNLV, USC, Utah, UTEP, Washington State, and Wyoming.

The Utes' five-man team for the N.I.TÂ is: senior
Kyler Dunkle, sophomore
Blake Tomlinson, freshman
Axel Einarsson, sophomore
Tristan Mandur, and junior
Jordan Costello. Juniors
Mitchell Schow and
Peyton Hastings will be competing as individuals on a different course than the team event.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
The first 36 holes of the event will be played on Monday, March 18, with the first round of play beginning at 8 a.m. MST in a shotgun start format. The final round of the event will start at the same time the next day and will also be a shotgun start. Live scoring for the entire tournament can be found at

The individuals playing in the Sonoran Showdown will also have 36 holes on the first day, followed by the second round on Tuesday. The shotgun start will begin at 7:30 a.m. MST both days.

WINNER WINNER
The Utes left the Bandon Dunes Championship last week with the second team title this season, as well as the team's third individual tournament title. Now in his third year as the head coach of the Utes,
Garrett Clegg has tabbed three tournament titles. Utah had gone without a team win since 2009.

Blake Tomlinson picked up his first career tournament title at the Bandon Dunes Championship in just his second season. Tomlinson got off to a great start in the event, being one of two golfers to go under par in the first round. After the second round he was tied for the lead and on the final day he was able to capture the win by edging the second-place golfer by one stroke.

TOUR TIME
During Utah's time between competition,
Kyler Dunkle traveled to San Antonio this past week to compete in the PGA Mackenzie Tour Q-School event. Dunkle had a stellar four-round tournament and finished tied for sixth place with a score of 6-under par (69-70-72-71=282) in the field of 120 golfers. With his sixth-place finish, Dunkle qualified for the PGA Tour Canada, which is a series of tournaments across Canada.

• Dunkle is tied for 13
th in the nation with 91 birdies on the year. Dunkle also ranks tied for 63
rd in the nation in subpar strokes per round with an average of 4.21 strokes, while Utah is 42
nd in subpar strokes per round at 3.38 strokes.
• Tomlinson has recorded 83 birdies which ranks tied for 44
th in the nation.
• Utah is tied for ninth with the most eagles recorded at 14 on the year.
• Utah is 14th in total birdies recorded with 378 as a team.
• Utah is 43
rd in the country on par 5 scoring average with a 4.78 stroke average on par 5's.

LAST TIME OUT
Tomlinson and Utah's five-man team picked up wins at the Bandon Dunes Championship in an event where the team battled the weather elements and came out on top. Utah shot 12-over par (876) to win the event by six strokes and notch the second team victory of the season.

Tomlinson shot a season-low 212, which included a season low round of 69, to finish the event at 4-under par and earn his first career first place finish.
Tristan Mandur also had his best tournament of his career and tabbed his first career top-five finish. Mandur finished at even par (216) to place in a tie for 3
rd overall. Competing as an individual,
Jordan Costello broke the Bandon Dunes Course record in the second round with 64, which is a career-best round for the junior. Costello finished in the top-10 in a tie for ninth place.

UP NEXT
The Utes will head to the Redhawks Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, April 1-2, before their last regular season meet of the year. The two-day tournament will be held at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
