SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Soccer unveiled its 2019 schedule today. The team will play seven games against opponents that reached the NCAA Tournament last season.
"Another year, another challenging schedule," head coach
Rich Manning said. "We have an experienced team this year so in order to have success in the Pac-12, it is important that we play consistently with mental and physical toughness. Our non-conference games will give us an opportunity to test ourselves and exercise those muscles. We have some fantastic road tests in August and September and I believe those will develop the edge we need in conference play."
The Utes begin the regular season at Clemson and Alabama. The home opener at the brand new Ute Field will be Aug. 30 vs. Utah State on the Pac-12 Network.
"The team is excited about playing in our new stadium this year," Manning added. "The support we get at home is fantastic and we want the fans to come with the same energy and enthusiasm they have always provided. We have some great home games and it will be a fantastic place to watch the games and support the Utes."
The match with the Aggies will be one of 10 televised contests for Utah in 2019 and you will be able to catch four more matches via live stream at UtahUtes.com
"We are excited to be able to bring these four games to our fans and parents who are not able to make it to the game through our live streaming platform," Director of Broadcast and Video Services
Skip Whitman said. "At no charge to the viewer, these streams will be multi-camera productions that include pre-game, halftime and post-game interviews with the broadcast team as replays of the action. Our goal is to give the fans who are not able to make it to Ute Field a pleasurable viewing experience."
Utah plays three more non-conference games on the road against BYU, Boise State and Nevada and contests at Ute Field against Cal Poly, Butler and San Diego.
Pac-12 play begins with a trip to Tempe for a Friday contest at Arizona State. The conference opener at Ute Field will be on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. vs. Oregon State followed by a meeting with Oregon.
After a trip to Los Angeles for games against No. 6 USC and No. 5 UCLA, the Utes return home for Arizona, California and No. 3 Stanford. The last road trip of the season is up to the Pacific Northwest for contests against Washington State and Washington. Senior Day is Nov. 7 vs. Colorado, concluding the regular season.
"The Pac-12 is loaded again in 2019," Manning stated. "We will have more experienced teams in the conference then we have had in the last couple of years. I expect the quality will be even better this year. Our team will be ready to show everyone how much we have grown in the last year. It's going to be a amazing soccer and we look forward to attacking those challenges."
The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is Nov. 15-17 with host sites to be determined later. Utah's last NCAA Tournament game on home turf was in 2016 as the Utes topped Texas Tech and advanced to the Round of 16.
