SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Head volleyball coach
Beth Launiere will be an Honored Hero at the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Salt Lake City Steps Walk presented by Sinclair Oil on Saturday, June 15 at Sugarhouse Park.
"I don't feel it's an honor as much as an opportunity to bring awareness to the issue of Crohn's and Colitis in our country," Launiere said. "It's one of the fastest growing diseases in our country, especially with children under 18 years old. I appreciate being talked about in terms of the ability to overcome this disease and not being a victim to it while experiencing some success in my life. This truly is an opportunity for me to help raise funds, bring awareness and continue the research and education of this disease to one day find a cure."
Launiere was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when she was a junior in high school and is now heading into her 30th season guiding the Utah volleyball program.
People can join Beth's Crohn's Crohnies for the walk at Sugarhouse Park on Saturday, June 15 as well as donate to the cause

The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is the largest non-profit, voluntary, health organization dedicated to finding cures for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). The Foundation's mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults who are affected by these diseases. The Foundation works to fulfill its mission by funding research; providing educational resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public; and furnishing supportive services for those afflicted with IBD.
Take Steps is the Foundation's fundraising walk campaign where patients and their families are able to connect with the local IBD community, helping them understand they are never alone in this fight. Take Steps has raised over 85 million in 11 years since it has existed. Participants raise funds and awareness throughout the year
