SALT LAKE CITY - Carly Nelson has been named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week after a pair of shutouts this past weekend against Butler and San Diego.
The Ute stopper has combined with Utah's defense to blank its last four opponents and five of the last six. This is the longest shutout streak for a Ute defense since the 2006 season (9 games)
The senior from Lindon leads the Pac-12 with 46 saves, ranks second with six shutouts and third in save percentage at .868
Nelson's 19 career shutouts place her third all-time in Utah history and she needs 51 saves to crack the top five in that category.
This is the 16th Pac-12 weekly award for Utah Soccer and fourth for Nelson. The team is back in action this Friday at 3 p.m. when it travels to Arizona State for the Pac-12 opener.
