EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 18 Utah volleyball team almost pulled off a huge comeback on the road against No. 24 Oregon (20-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-20, 13-15), but the Ducks just edged the Utes 15-13 in the fifth set to earn the Pac-12 victory in Matthew Knight Arena.
Finding themselves in a 2-0 hole on the road, the Utes used two big runs in sets three and four to even things up and force a fifth set to try and steal a big match on the road. The Utes held a small edge after winning two straight points to go up 13-12, but Oregon won the matches final three points to earn the victory in Eugene.
Dani Drews had a match high 22 kills hitting .286. She also had eight digs, 3.0 blocks and two service aces.
Oregon controlled the first two sets, but Utah did have a 6-1 run in the first to go up 18-16 forcing Oregon to use a timeout. From there, Oregon only lost two more points and ran off five in a row and won six of the last seven points to win the first set.
After dropping the second set and facing an 0-2 hole in the match, Utah began to chip away at the Oregon's lead. In the third, Utah went on a 9-0 run to turn a two-point deficit into a seven-point lead. The Ducks tried to make a late run, but the Utes held on and extended the match.
Oregon had all of the momentum early in the fourth leading 11-6. The Utes went on a 12-1 run to go ahead 18-12 and Oregon never recovered as the Utes evened things up to force a fifth set.
The two teams went point-for-point with each other through the fifth. Utah went on a 2-0 run to go up 13-12, but Oregon responded by winning the final three points to clinch the match.
The Utes fall to 9-4 on the season and 1-1 in Pac-12 play.

Kenzie Koerber each had double-digit kills.
Brianna Doehrmann moved into third all-time in Utah's career dig category after coming up with 16 digs in the match.
Utah will stay on the road next weekend traveling to Arizona and Arizona State with matches on Friday in Tucson, Arizona and then Tempe, Arizona on Sunday.
