SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah volleyball team is sending seven student-athletes to the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts in Colorado Springs, Colorado taking place from February 21-23.
The Utah players that are going to the tryout are
Dani Drews,
Kenzie Koerber,
Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres,
Phoebe Grace,
Zoe Weatherington,
Emily Smith and Madelyn Robinson.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly and the U.S. Women's National Team staff will lead the tryout process. Each athlete will have one tryout session on Friday, one morning and one afternoon session on Saturday and one morning session on Sunday.
After last year's tryout, the Utes had Drews, Koerber and Ka'aha'aina-Torres named to the U.S. Women's Collegiate Team - Japan.
As of right now, there will be 214 student-athletes from 94 different colleges at the tryout.
All sessions minus the USA training session on Sunday morning will be streamed live by
clicking here. USA Volleyball will use #USAVtryout as the event hashtag for photos, notes, quotes and stories posted to its social media platforms Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and Instagram under the handle @usavolleyball.
Selections for the U.S. Collegiate National Teams will be made by the end of March.
Last Friday, it was announced that Drews and Koerber have already been invited to train with the U.S. National Team for their Spring Training Camp in Anaheim, California from March 14-21.
