ARLINGTON, Texas – The Utah baseball team fell in its series finale against UT Arlington 8-1 in Arlington, Texas.
Briley Knight reached base twice going 1-3 and had a walk. The Utes had five pitchers throw on Sunday and three of them didn't allow any runs.
UT Arlington had a big second inning where they scored six unearned runs to go up 6-0, but Utah limited them to just two runs the rest of the way.
Riley Pierce came into the game in the second inning and only allowed two hits in 3.0 innings pitched.
Ian MacIver pitched 1.1 innings and
Zac McCleve pitched an inning and neither gave up a hit in their appearances.
In the ninth inning, Utah loaded the bases and
Christopher Rowan, Jr. got
Vinny Zavolta home by putting the ball in play.
Utah's record moves to 4-6 and they have one more weekend series before starting Pac-12 play.
Next weekend, the Utes will be on the road once again as they travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers for a weekend series at U.S. Bank Stadium. First game is Friday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m.
