For this week's edition of our Friday Feature Series, we chat with freshman and Sandy native
Morgan Jensen.
Â
Â
Jensen attended Alta High School, where she was a four-year letter winner in cross country and track & field. During the 2019 season, she took third place in the Utah State 5A Cross Country Championship and guided the Hawks to five first-place finishes during her senior season. She also placed fourth at the Utah State 5A Championship meet in the 3200 (11:11.24).
Â
Jensen attributes her motivation and success to her family and to her drive as an athlete. Her parents, Jim and Rian Jensen, who both attended the U were some of the biggest influences in Jensen's athletic career and continue to be a source for motivation. Jensen's parents provided stability throughout her high school career, having gone through a lot of coaching changes was difficult for both her and her team. Jensen, who has a very close relationship with her older brother Carter and younger brother Gavin, all love doing outdoor activities because her parents encouraged it to all three children from a young age.
Â
Jensen is excited to see where her collegiate running career takes her, and looking forward to her experiences as a student-athlete at the University of Utah.
