OGDEN – The Utah baseball team dropped its final game of the season 17-11 the USC Trojans at Lindquist Field in Ogden, Utah.

It was head coach
Bill Kinneberg's final game with the Utes as he announced his retirement on Monday. He was honored before the game for his 18 seasons as a head coach at Utah.

Utah got off to as good of a start as they could've scoring five in the first inning on five hits. After
Matt Richardson reached on an error,
Kai Roberts smashed a double to score him from first.
Christopher Rowan, Jr. followed that up with a hit to score Roberts quickly putting Utah up 2-0. After a couple of singles from
Rykker Tom and
Shea Kramer,
Vinny Zavolta got a single with the bases loaded to score Rowan from third. The next two runs were scored on a wild pitch and a dropped popup by the pitcher making the score 5-0.

The Utes pushed their lead out to 7-1 after the third inning, but that's when the Trojans got hot. They plated eight runs in the fourth inning on seven hits and two errors to take a 9-7 lead.

Utah did claw back and ended up taking the lead at 10-9 after scoring one run in the fourth and two in the fifth.

USC wasn't finished though as they got going again in the seventh scoring seven more runs to go up 16-10. The Utes couldn't come back from that deficit eventually falling 17-11 in their final game of the 2021 season.

Roberts led Utah by going 2-5 with a triple and a double. Tom, Kramer and Zavolta all had two hits in the game as well. Rowan and
Chase Fernlund led the team with two RBI in the game.

The loss drops Utah's final record to 17-33 on the season and 7-23 in Pac-12 play.
