Spring Break for the Utes will start in Texas at UTSA (March 3-5). Utah's final action before Pac-12 Conference play is a March 7 matchup at Cal State Fullerton; on deck is a weekend in Seattle as the squad battles Washington (March 10-12) at Husky Ballpark.
The Utes will then play 16 of their next 22 games in the state of Utah, including 13 in the home confines of Smith's Ballpark. Arizona State (March 17-19), USC (March 31-April 2) and California (April 14-16) all are slated to come to town for midseason Pac-12 series. Washington State (April 28-30) and Oregon (May 18-20) round out the home conference schedule.
Other road weekends in league play will bring the Utes to Stanford (March 25-27), UCLA (April 6-8), Arizona (April 21-23) and Oregon State (May 5-7).
Utah's rivalry series with BYU has three meetings scattered again this season. Road contests down in Provo are slated for March 14 and April 18, with the Utes hosting the Cougars in a May 9 game at Smith's Ballpark, broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
The Pac-12 Networks family will additionally air Utah's series with Washington, USC and Oregon, plus midweek meetings with Northern Colorado (March 21), Utah Tech (April 4) and BYU (May 9). Broadcast and streaming information for the Utes' remaining games will be available on the team's schedule page once finalized.
New in 2023, the Pac-12 Baseball Tournament has expanded to a nine-team field and moved to pool play. The 2023 tournament is scheduled for May 23-27 at Scottsdale Stadium in Scottsdale, Arizona. Stanford won the inaugural tournament in 2022, defeating Oregon State in the title game and capping a week that featured several instant classics.
The '22 season was one that showed signs of promise for the Utes. Utah got off to a 9-2-1 start—its best since 1981—later resetting its Pac-12 era program records in several offensive categories. It also went on the books as the program's top fielding percentage (.973) since joining the league.
Postseason accolades saw graduating first baseman
Alex Baeza win Utah's first-ever ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove award. Baeza earned Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors as did returning catcher and first baseman
Davis Cop, while then-freshman second baseman
Landon Frei was tabbed Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mention.
On the mound, Utah returns a slew of arms who pitched key innings last season, while adding young talent across the clubhouse. Freshmen
Cam Day and
Jaden Harris accounted for 18 conference starts last season, the highest rookie total in the league.
